This is one of Ecuador's top coffees, earning one of the top spots in the Cup of Excellence competition. Founded in 2009 by physicians Henry Gaibor and Verena Blasser, they have grown from 6 hectares to over 26 hectares. They have proven that producing high yields is not at odds with producing the highest quality coffee, all while providing high wages for those working the farm.
Finca Maputo is renowned for producing Honey Processed coffees (also called Pulp Dried Coffees). In this process, the skin of the coffee fruit is removed, and the coffee is allowed to try with some of the pulp intact. This imparts a soft sweetness reminiscent of melon and pear and maintains a refreshing quality to the acidity.
