Guatemala Asproguate
Tastes Like: Raisin, Chocolate, Caramel
Our newest coffee from Guatemala is from the Acatenango region and produced by the Asproguate cooperative. Nearly 55% of the producers of Aproguate are Women and 90% of the cooperatives are from the local indigenous community.
The organic farms in this region are surrounded by vast natural forests, providing the coffee plants with ample shade to protect them from direct sunlight and allowing for the cherries to develop at an optimal rate, which contributes to the deep caramel sweetness with flavors of apricot, almonds, dark chocolate and caramel. Our lot was built by aggregating over 60 smaller lots at a centralized wet mill in Acatenango. The careful processing yields a medium body with exceptional smoothness, and a balanced tangy acidity.
