Ethiopia Kayon Mountain
Tastes Like: Peach, Kumquat, Clementine, Black Tea
This fruit-dried (or naturally processed) coffee comes from the Kayon Mountain Farm in the Eastern side of the Gjui Zone in Ethiopia's southern Oromia region. The owner Ismael meticulously manages the farm as a vital asset to the local community, utilizes indigenous trees for shade, and produces the coffee organically.
This lot is composed of disease-resistant varieties originally selected in the 1970s from mother trees in Ethiopia's pristine Illubabour forest. The coffee was dried with the coffee cherry intact (sometimes called "naturally processed"), which imparts the intense honey sweetness, flavors of apricot and other stone fruit and ripe berries, and a satisfying full body.
